Attendance Procedure: Buddy Taylor Middle School does not have a sick line. When a student is absent they will need to bring in a note within 5 days of the absence. The note needs to include the child's first and last name, the date of absence(s), and the reason for the absence. Failure to provide this documentation will result in an unexcused absence.

Reporting Bullying: Please help us help you! No one should have to go through the school day worrying about what may or may not happen to them because of a bully. The only things our students should be concetrating on is their education. We can only help if we know what is happening. If your child is a victim of bullying please encourage your child to contact us immediately. If they are uncomfortable letting one of the staff know what is happening you can report an incident online by clicking on the words "Reporting Bullying" above. You may also get a hold of us by calling the school number 446-6700.

BUDDY TAYLOR MEDIATION PROGRAM
2011 - 2012 School Year
As a component of our behavior plan, we will be using peer mediators - students who have been trained to help other students resolve minor conflicts and correct minor school rule violations. Selected student mediators will be trained prior to beginning the process. Training includes the ability to stay neutral, giving all students due process, being attentive listeners, solving problems together and perhaps most importantly, the need for confidentiality. An adult advisor will be present during each peer mediation. Our goal is to provide students an opportunity to solve problems and receive consequences [if necessary] in a skill building format.
If parents chose, they may opt out of the process. Referrals and conflicts will then be handled by administration. Please be assured that serious situations will never be handled by the mediation team.
