Principal's Message From Winnie Oden

They say hard work makes time pass quickly.  If that’s in fact a true state, this summer just flew by as we worked toward getting our newly renovated building ready for staff and students.  This will be the first time, in a long time, we’ve opened our doors without portables on the campus.  I think the students will be impressed with all the great changes and additions.

Each school year brings with it an expectation and excitement of meeting new students and their families.  Middle school requires a fine balance of allowing students a chance to be more independent and at the same time providing the parent support to assist them in those all important personal, social and academic decision.  We have a great team of guidance counselors who can help you and can offer sound, supportive recommendations.  Home and school must work together to offer the best chance for student success.

Please know that we continue to be dedicated to academic success.  BTMS has made 5 A’s in a row!  This is a great accomplishment for our students as well as the staff who work diligently to provide the best academic environment.  You can assist by monitoring your child’s progress. We will post when progress reports and report cards are going home.  If you have any questions or concerns, we are available to help.

BTMS is set and ready for a great 2010 – 2011 school year and we’re glad you’re taking the journey with us!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • Attendance Procedure: Buddy Taylor Middle School does not have a sick line.  When a student is absent they will need to bring in a note within 5 days of the absence.  The note needs to include the child's first and last name, the date of absence(s), and the reason for the absence.  Failure to provide this documentation will result in an unexcused absence.
  • Reporting Bullying: Please help us help you!  No one should have to go through the school day worrying about what may or may not happen to them because of a bully.  The only things our students should be concetrating on is their education.  We can only help if we know what is happening. If your child is a victim of bullying please encourage your child to contact us immediately.  If they are uncomfortable letting one of the staff know what is happening you can report an incident online by clicking on the words "Reporting Bullying" above.  You may also get a hold of us by calling the school number 446-6700.
